Traditional dancing & chanting in Poli, a village up Mount Meru, Tanzania
Wolfgang Praegler & Gudrun Mirbach-Praegler
Only a few kilometers north-east of Arusha, the capital of northern Tanzania, the village of Poli is situated up the slopes of Mount Meru. The people of Poli are Meru, with a culture and a language of their own. Pauline, the wife of our friend Jeremiah, was born here. During our last trip to Tanzania in October 2017 we paid a visit to Poli, where the local dancing group was already waiting for us. The leader of the dancing group is the experienced and very active Mrs. Nkasiyoi Pallangyo. We spent some enjoyable hours among the pleasant Meru people of Poli.
